Japan donates batch of medical equipment to Moldova

Chisinau, Nov. 1 /MOLDPRES/- A batch of medical equipment, reagents and consumables donated by Japan were sent to the Ministry of Health today.

Minister of Health Ala Nemerenco and Ambassador of Japan to Moldova Yoshihiro Katayama were present at the equipment handover event.

Nemerenco thanked the Japanese side for the support during the last years saying that the equipment will help strengthen the health system and especially the laboratories managed by the National Public Health Agency.

The Japanese official said that the equipment was selected under the conclusions announced by three teams of Japanese experts, who examined the needs of the healthcare system in the Republic of Moldova in recent months. He reiterated that five large hospitals in the country will receive high-performance equipment purchased based on the agreement signed between the Republic of Moldova and Japan.

High-performance equipment will be purchased for the Institute of Emergency Medicine, the Timofei Moșneaga Republican Clinical Hospital, the Mother and Child Institute, the Oncological Institute and the Sfânta Treime Municipal Clinical Hospital from Japan's money, one billion yen (about 8 million euros).
