Chisinau, Nov. 2 /MOLDPRES/-  EU - Moldova Parliamentary Association Committee asks the EU institutions to start accession negotiations with Moldova as the country fulfills the nine recommendations submitted in its note. The recommendation is set out in the final statement of the 12th meeting of the aforementioned Committee.

In the document, the European Commission is requested to communicate to the Republic of Moldova, in due time, the additional conditions necessary for the accession process and to assist our country in the preparation of a comprehensive pre-accession strategy. Also, the parliamentarians ask the European institutions to ensure quick and additional financial support, including non-refundable European funds, to support the accession process of Moldova and to manage the energy crisis in the country. In this context, the European Commission is requested to offer the Republic of Moldova, as soon as possible, access to the Instrument for Pre-accession Assistance (IPA III).

The document welcomes the solidarity and continuous support offered by the Moldovan authorities to the Ukrainian refugees and emphasizes the key role that the Republic of Moldova has had so far for the safety and stability of the European Union. The EU - Moldova Parliamentary Association Committee invites the EU to support our country in modernizing defense capabilities and strengthening national security, stability and resilience, given the security challenges.

The parliamentarians also demand the conclusion of an agreement between the European Union and the Republic of Moldova on the elimination of roaming tariffs, as well as the total liberalization of trade and transport from Moldova to the European Union and the acceleration of our country's integration into the single European market.

Yesterday, the Parliament hosted the 12th meeting of the EU-Moldova Parliamentary Association Committee. The meeting was the first since Moldova was granted EU candidate country status in June.
