Chisinau, 2 November /MOLDPRES/ - The European Parliament will support Moldova in the process of accession to EU and asks the European Commission to inform Chisinau about the additional conditions needed for the accession process. The co-heads of the Moldova-European Union Parliamentary Association Committee, Mihail Popsoi and Siegfried Muresan, today made statements to this effect at a joint conference.

At the event, Mihail Popsoi noted that the European lawmakers had appreciated Moldova’s effort in the process of reforms’ implementation and launched a strong message of backing Moldova in the process of joining the European Union.

Siegfried Muresan said that the meeting was the first one after Moldova had got the status of country candidate and the European MPs had announced a clear-cut message of supporting Moldova in the integration process. Muresan requested that all actions the EU was doing for EU should be made for Moldova as well.

On 1 November, the Moldovan parliament hosted the 12th meeting of the Moldova-European Union Parliamentary Association Committee. In the end of the event, the lawmakers adopted a declaration, thereby asking the European Commission to inform Moldova, in due time, about the additional conditions need in the accession process and assist the country in preparing a comprehensive strategy of pre-accession. The MPs also asked the European institutions to provide quick and supplementary support, including non-refundable European funds, for backing the process of Moldova’s accession and for the management of the energy crisis. The MPs also asked to conclude an agreement between the European Union and Moldova on the removal of the roaming tariffs, as well as the full liberalization of the trade and transport from Moldova  in EU and speeding up of Moldova’s integration into the Single European Market.
