Cahul man sentenced to seven years in prison for drug trafficking

Chisinau, Nov. 8 /MOLDPRES/- A 42-year-old man from Cahul was recently sentenced to seven years in prison for drug trafficking.

According to the Prosecutor's Office for Combating Organized Crime and Special Cases, in the criminal ring the man had the role of organizer. Following the searches, the police found marijuana-type drugs worth over 100,000 lei (around 5,000 euros) at his home.

His accomplice, an ex-military man, aged 32, who was also detained in April, in the same operation, was previously convicted. He cooperated with the investigating authority and, according to the law, benefited from a reduced sentence.

As for another ex-military man, also detained in April, aged 30, he is being investigated for the possession of drugs in large proportions, in a separate file, derived from the basic file, which is investigated by the Cahul authorities.
