Moldovan foreign affairs minister has discussion with French MPs

Chisinau, 11 November /MOLDPRES/ - The Moldovan diplomacy head, during his visit to Paris, has met members of the friendship group from the French Senate, head of the group Veronique Guillotin and senator Bernard Fialaire. Also, the Moldovan official had a meeting with the head of the National Assembly’s Foreign Affairs Committee, Jean-Louis Bourlanges, the Foreign Affairs and European Integration Ministry’s (MAEIE) press service has reported.  

„The parliamentary diplomacy is essential for strengthening the political and diplomatic relations between Moldova and France,’’ Minister Nicu Popescu said after the meeting.   

In discussions with French lawmakers, the foreign affairs minister referred to the authorities’ determination for Moldova’s European modernization, advancement in the process of reforms and the intention to consolidate the very good and close dialogue of Moldova with France and the European Union.  

Also, the official touched upon the dramatic consequences of Russia’s aggression war against Ukraine and the huge economic and social damages felt by each citizen.

Deputy PM Nicu Popescu informed the French officials about the situation in the energy sector, noting that this was the most serious energy crisis in the last three decades – a crisis in which energy resources are used as weapons.   

„I spoke out for the further consistent support, on behalf of France, for the democratic processes from Moldova,’’ Minister Nicu Popescu added.  

Deputy Prime Minister, Foreign Affairs and European Integration Minister Nicu Popescu pays a working visit to Paris on 10-11 November.
