Moldovan head of state meets president of National Democratic Institute, Ambassador Derek Mitchell

Chisinau, 14 November /MOLDPRES/ - President Maia Sandu today met the president of the National Democratic Institute (NDI), Derek Mitchell, accompanied by NDI Regional Director for Eurasia Eva Busza and local representatives of the organization. The discussions were focused on NDI’s priorities for backing the democracy and the public institutions from Moldova.
According to the presidential press service, President Maia Sandu thanked for NDI’s support to consolidate the democratic processes in Moldova, noting that they remained priority in the context of the current global challenges. The head of state also referred to the reforms started by the governance, stressing the importance of the justice reform and fight against corruption. As for the cooperation in the long run, President Maia Sandu expressed interest in the counteraction of the misinformation and propaganda, boosted with the war in Ukraine, for strengthening the civil society and continuous professionalization of mass media, as well as for the development of democracy locally.
