Authorities destroyed over one million packs of confiscated cigarettes

Chisinau, Nov. 16 /MOLDPRES/- The State Fiscal Service (SFS) announced today that it has ensured the destruction of over one million packages of seized tobacco products.

"During November 10-11, there was the destruction by incineration of some tobacco products in the amount of over one million packs. These were recorded in accordance with the provisions of a Government decision. The goods were confiscated as a result of committing the violations provided for by the Criminal and Contravention Code, in the years 2016-2022", indicates the SFS.

According to the legislation, tobacco products, related ones, devices and accessories for use, recharging or heating of these manufactured, imported or sold in violation of the requirements of the respective law are confiscated in the manner provided by the legislation and are subsequently to be destroyed.

The batch of tobacco products was destroyed at Lafarge Ciment (Moldova), by incineration, in the presence of the Commission for the destruction of confiscated goods, which included representatives of the State Fiscal Service, the Customs Service, the Ministry of the Interior, the General Prosecutor's Office , the National Anticorruption Center, the Environmental Agency and the Environmental Protection Inspectorate.

The incineration procedure took place in compliance with all environmental protection conditions, the above-mentioned economic agent being the holder of the authorization in this regard.
