Chisinau, 17 November /MOLDPRES/ - Moldova’s government will allocate five billion lei (about 250 million euros) for backing the residents and compensation of the invoices for heating in the 2022-2023 cold season. Prime Minister Natalia Gavrilita today made statements to this effect at a joint news conference with Labour and Social Protection Minister Marcel Spatari.

„In the context of the war in the region, various crises hit us – security, energy, economic ones; therefore, the government was set to be more correct, to compensate the people’s spending for heating more targeted and more fairly. The forthcoming winter will not be easy; yet, it will not take us aback. We have resources, promote the reasonable consumption and we have managed not to sell our national interests for short-term effects,’’ the PM said.

For his part, Marcel Spatari informed that, in the next winter, compensations would be provided for the consumption of natural gas, thermal energy and electric energy. ‘’The maximal volume compensated for natural gas is of 180 cubic metres per month. The compensations for natural gas will be provided depending on the degree of vulnerability: quite high – the final price will be of 12 le/cubic metre; with the compensation value being of 17.27 lei/cubic metre; high – the final price will be 14 lei/cubic metre; the compensation’s value will be of 15.27 lei/cubic metre; medium – the final price will be 17 lei/cubic metre and the compensation’s value will be 12.27 lei/cubic metre; low – the final price will be of 24 lei/cubic metre and the compensation value will be of 5.27 lei/cubic metre,’’ the minister said.

Also, as for the household consumers of thermal energy, the maximal volume compensated will be established at 1.3 Gcal/month. Thus, the consumers with quite high energy vulnerability will pay 1,450 lei per one Gcal; consumers with high energy vulnerability – 1,700 lei/Gcal; consumers with medium energy vulnerability – 1,950 lei/Gcal.

At the same time, the government will provide compensations for electric energy within the limit of a ceiling of 75 KW/hour per one place of consumption for the quite high and high categories of energy vulnerability. The most vulnerable consumers will pay 3.3 lei/KW/hour and the second category of energy vulnerability – 3.7 lei/KWh. The compensations will be applied directly in the invoice, just as in the case of natural gas and thermal energy.

The portal www.compensaţii.gov.md, where the applications for compensations are submitted, will be active till 25 November. As many as 645,000 applications have been registered in the system, of which about 268,000 have been filled in with the help of librarians and social assistants. The people who failed to be registered in the programme will benefit from assistance for a medium degree of vulnerability, after which the low one. Economic agents will benefit from compensations too or the Economics Ministry will announce a programme on support to this end.
