„We want to prove our commitment to the Moldovan people and consolidate the bilateral cooperation which is based on 30 years of productive and successful partnership. We hope that this project will further contribute to Moldova’s resilience and will help this small country, with great heart, overcome these challenges, while it is firmly moving towards the European Union,’’ Head of the USAID Moldova Mission Scott Hocklander said.
Attending the event, Government’s Secretary General Dumitru Udrea thanked the My Community Programme, which is a reliable partner of the central and local authorities from Moldova. The official gave assurances that this cooperation would continue and the Moldovan cabinet would provide every support possible.
My Community is the main programme of USAID, implemented by IREX in the local governance sector. The programme’s goal is to back the local public authorities to become more efficient, transparent and responsible before the citizens, as well as to provide technical assistance and trainings to mayoralties’ employees, in order to be able to meet the people’s needs. The programme’s assistance regards, as priority, the local public authorities of the first level; yet, civic groups and the local business environment will benefit from support as well, as their abilities of promoting rights improve.
