Moldovan foreign affairs minister participates in third meeting of Moldova Support Platform's Donors Conference

Chisinau, 21 November /MOLDPRES/ - Deputy Prime Minister, Foreign Affairs and European Integration Minister Nicu Popescu is on a working visit to Paris, occasioned by his participation in the third issue of the Moldova Support Platform, within a delegation led by President Maia Sandu, the Foreign Affairs and European Integration Ministry’s (MAEIE) press service has reported.       

More members of the Moldovan cabinet take part in the high-level meeting, including Deputy PM, Infrastructure and Regional Development Minister Andrei Spinu, Interior Minister Ana Revenco, Justice Minister Sergiu Litvinenco, Finance Minister Dumitru Budianschi, Labour and Social Protection Minister Marcel Spatari, Government’s Secretary General Dumitru Udrea, as well as other officials of public institutions from Moldova.    

President of France Emmanuel Macron and President of Moldova Maia Sandu will participate in the ministerial conference. The Paris meeting take place in the context of the major challenges felt by Moldova in the  energy, social and economic, as well as humanitarian fields, against the background of Russia’s aggression war against Ukraine. The delegates, representatives of the EU member states, G7 countries, of the European Free Trade Association (EFTA), over ten international organizations, European institutions (European Commission and European External Action Service) and agencies of the United Nations Organization will discuss options of emergency assistance in this sector for the benefit of Moldova.    

At the event, the co-heads of those six working groups of the Platform will present the conclusion of the work carried out before the event in the following sectors:

(1) humanitarian situation of the refugees from Ukraine (working group co-chaired by Germany and Canada);

(2) combating corruption (co-chaired by Romania and the United Kingdom);

(3) energy security (co-chaired France and Italy);

(4) financial assistance (chaired by the European Commission);

(5) borders’ management (chaired by the USA).

(6) reform of public administration and management of public money (co-chaired by the Netherlands and Sweden).

Following the finishing of the Moldova Support Platform’s works, Deputy Prime Minister, Foreign Affairs and European Integration Minister Nicu Popescu, Minister of Europe and Foreign Affairs of France Catherine Colonna, Foreign Affairs Minister of Romania Bogdan Aurescu and Foreign Affairs Minister of Germany Annalena Baerbock will hold a news conference at 17:15, due to be broadcast live on the webpage of the Foreign Affairs and European Integration Ministry.     

The first issue of the Moldova Support Platform took place in Berlin on 5 April 2022. This format was created and co-chaired by the foreign affairs ministers of Germany, Romania and France. The second donors’ conference was hosted by Romania, Bucharest, on 15 July 2022.     

Among the participants in the event, there are the delegations of the EU member states, G7 countries, EFTA, over ten international organizations, financial institutions, European institutions (European Commission and European External Action Service) and agencies of the United Nations Organization.
