Moldovan government's secretary general participates in conference of Moldova Support Platform in Paris

Chisinau, 21 November /MOLDPRES/ - The third conference of the Moldova Support Platform, - an initiative of Germany, France and Romania, took place in Paris today. Government’s Secretary General Dumitru Udrea represented the working group on the reform of public administration and management of public money. The group is the most recently set up within the Moldova Support Platform in September 2022 and is co-chaired by the Netherlands and Sweden, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.   

„It is a great pleasure for me to participate today in such an important event for Moldova, at which our partners show their support and solidarity with our country. The consolidation of the capacity of the public institutions and civil servants, including through providing salary increases, as well as enhancing the professional motivation, represent immediate needs, in order to successfully carry out the reform of public administration,’’ Dumitru Udrea stressed.   

With the support of the European partners, the government is set to create a consolidated public administration, able to implement policies, strategies and reforms, including an efficient system of management of public money. The reform is of vital importance for the European integration of Moldova, in all sectors concerned, but especially for improving the well-being, the rights and prosperity of the citizens.  

For the success of the reform, support is necessary for the following sectors:

1. Improvement of the management of public service

2. Ensuring the efficiency of the public institutions

3. Ensuring an efficient strategic planning

4. Digitalization and de-bureaucratization

5. Local public administration’s reform

Sweden reconfirmed its commitment for the support provided in the reform of the local public administration. Foreign Affairs Minister of Sweden Tobias Billström emphasized the role of the reform in Moldova’s road for European integration.      

The Netherlands also declared its support for the carrying out of the public administration reform. A deputy director general at the Dutch Foreign Affairs Ministry, Erica Schouten, said her country would be with Moldova, in order to strengthen the public administration and public money.   

Moldova’s delegation was led by President Maia Sandu. The delegation was made up of  Deputy PM, Infrastructure and Regional Development Minister Andrei Spinu,  Deputy Prime Minister, Foreign Affairs and European Integration Minister Nicu Popescu, Interior Minister Ana Revenco, Justice Minister Sergiu Litvinenco, Finance Minister Dumitru Budianschi, Labour and Social Protection Minister Marcel Spatari, Government’s Secretary General Dumitru Udrea, as well as other officials of public institutions from Moldova.    

The Moldova Support Platform is an instrument of backing the Moldovan authorities’ efforts to cope with the major challenges felt by the country in the energy, social, economic and humanitarian fields, against the background of Russia’s aggression war against Ukraine.
