Chisinau, 21 November /MOLDPRES/ - President Maia Sandu today afternoon greeted the participants in the third meeting of the Moldova Support Platform, held in Paris, the presidential press service has reported.

„We are grateful to all countries and organizations which joined this initiative, launched by France, Germany and Romania, in order to help us on such a difficult period for everybody. We thank for the solidarity and for the commitments of support,’’ the Moldovan president said in her speech.

The head of state informed the partners who brought together at the conference about the fact that, because of the war waged by Russia against the neighbour country Ukraine, Moldova faced an unprecedented energy crisis. ‘’We are not sure that we can find enough resources, in order to heat and light our homes. And even if we find these resources, the prices are non-accessible for our people and economy, which can endanger our peace and security,’’ Maia Sandu said.

In the context, the head of state said that the country’s democracy was attacked by corrupt crime rings backed by Russia and the country was facing a hybrid war, the goal of which is to change the European integration course. ‘’We must work together, in order to cease these groups. Therefore, I asked the EU and its member states to sanction the high-level corrupt offenders, who steal public money and directly threaten the stability and democracy of our countries,’’ Maia Sandu said.

The Moldovan president thanked the country’s partners for their vital support to resist these crises. She assured them that, in its capacity of country candidate for EU, the country worked on the recommendations of the European Commission and was preparing for starting the negotiations on accession to the European Union. ‘’No matter how difficult it is, we will go the way of democracy and of the European integration,’’ Maia Sandu said. She thanked also President Emmanuel Macron for the commitment to consolidate the Moldovan-French relations and for every support provided to Moldova.
