Chisinau, 22 November /MOLDPRES/ - Croatia’s continuous support for Moldova’s European agenda today was reiterated at a meeting between Prime Minister Natalia Gavrilita and a delegation of the Croatian parliament’s European Affairs Committee, led by its head Domagoj Hajduković.

According to the government’s communication and protocol department, the officials discussed priorities of cooperation between the two countries, with emphasis on the exchange of experience in the European integration sector, as well as the regional situation, which hits the key fields for Moldova’s development.

The PM appreciated the humanitarian assistance provided by Croatia in the management of the crisis of refugees from Ukraine and backing Moldova’s European integration. Gavrilita stressed the need to resume the consultations on the platform of the Moldovan-Croatian inter-governmental commission for European integration. At the same time, the prime minister referred to the crises which have direct consequences on Moldova’s citizens, such as the energy one, noting that the identification of alternative sources of supply had become a priority goal for the authorities.

„Our country’s energy dependence makes us vulnerable and the government’s capacities to cope with the crisis are ever more limited. We need, in continuation, our friends – the situation stays difficult; yet, with the help of the partners, including the one of Croatia, the impact of the crises will be felt less and the achievement of the European integration objective will be closer,’’ Natalia Gavrilita said.

For its part, the Croatian side showed willingness to provide expertise in the process of joining EU, as well as to support the transformations initiated by the Moldovan authorities. ‘’We are in Chisinau to convey a strong message of support and solidarity. Our goal is to contribute to the stabilization of the situation in your country and to speed up the European integration process, as Moldova’s place is in the EU family,’’ Domagoj Hajduković said.
