Chisinau, Nov. 24 /MOLDPRES/- Currently, out of 59 republican, municipal and district hospitals, five institutions do not have any power generator: the Psychiatric Hospital in Balti and Orhei, Toma Ciorbă SCBI and two municipal hospitals. Minister of Health Ala Nemerenco made the statement.
15 hospitals are provided with generators that cover the entire capacity of the institution.
"The others have generators that cover the intensive care wards, operating rooms, perinatal centers, some laboratory and diagnostic equipment with electricity, which ensures the avoidance of major risks in cases similar to Wednesday's. In total in the country, hospitals have 77 generators of different capacity. We still need at least 55 and we have identified the partners who will help us", said Nemerenco.
The official said that some hospitals are facing problems when connecting the generators which is manual and not automatic. Also, there are problems with the electrical networks, which are outdated and because of which 17 generators donated to the ministry by the French Government could not be installed.
"There was no unusual case following the disconnection of electricity, operations continued with the automatic inclusion of generators, ventilators and monitors in the intensive care units worked. We are doing our best to meet the needs in the shortest possible time, but the process of installing and connecting an entire hospital to the generator is a very difficult one due to the old electrical networks", the minister said.
Yesterday, for several hours, our country faced a massive power outage.
