Moldovan head of state meets Lithuanian PM

Chisinau, 26 November /MOLDPRES/ - President Maia Sandu on 25 November met Prime Minister of Lithuania Ingrida Šimonytė, on a working visit to Chisinau. The discussion was focused on the security risks triggered by Russia’s war in Ukraine, especially on the energy and economic sectors and Moldova’s European agenda, the presidential press service has reported.
The head of state thanked for Lithuania’s support in the process of getting by Moldova of the status of country candidate for the European Union. Maia Sandu stressed that, despite the energy crisis and the security risks caused by the war, the authorities were working on EU’s recommendations and carrying out of reforms in priority sectors, such as justice. The Moldovan president said that she further relied on Lithuania’s support in the country’s European integration, as well as on such files as liberalization of the roaming tariffs with EU or the accession to the Single European Payments Area (SEPA).
The officials discussed also the bilateral cooperation between Moldova and Lithuania, including in order to combat the propaganda and misinformation, which spread with Russia’s aggression in Ukraine and which attempts against Moldova’s security.
