Chisinau, 26 November /MOLDPRES/ - Five project initiatives in the field of use and promotion of renewable energy and energy efficiency were awarded prizes at the ECO Energy Moldova Gala, the 2022 edition, on 25 November.
At the opening of the prize awarding ceremony, Deputy Prime Minister, Infrastructure and Regional Development Minister Andrei Spinu said that the experience through which country was going at present was a clear lesson that Moldova must make a radical change in the energy sector.
„I want these ideas to be implemented in our country in the long run, so that we are no longer dependent on a single provider of energy. I rely on the fact that we will start consuming the energy much more responsibly and will invest more in energy efficiency projects. The energy sector employees will change the fate of this country. I want the engineers and young people open for innovations to be in decision-making offices and contribute to the transition to a competitive and sustainable energy sector,’’ Andrei Spinu said.
Fifteen participants submitted their files at this year contest at the following categories: energy efficiency; renewable energy; efficient use of water; eco/green buildings; eco/eco transport.
The ECO Energy Moldova competition was held on 10 August – 10 September and its goal is to back the most important initiatives in the production, transmission, distribution and efficient consumption of energy, in the implementation, development and promotion of modern technologies, as well as of innovations in the sector. Among the competition’s winners, there are enterprises and private people, who are to participate in the international contest organized in Vienna by the United Nations Industrial Development Organization, within which startups from ten countries, where this concept is implemented, will compete.
