Moldovan president requested government to present options for reorganizing energy sector

Chisinau, Dec. 6 /MOLDPRES/- President of the Republic of Moldova Maia Sandu believes that the government must communicate as effectively as possible about the actions taken to ensure the population with energy resources, and present options for reorganizing the energy sector.

"Energy security is a very important element of the country's security and every citizen must be informed about the decisions made in this field. The government is obliged to explain clearly and without delay all the actions undertaken for the provision of electricity and natural gas for the month of December and the following period, so that the society understands what were the circumstances and conditions that determined the decisions adopted", said Maia Sandu.

Also, the official noted that the government must work urgently on the reorganization of the energy sector. "The increasingly complicated situation in the energy field and the need to urgently develop medium and long-term solutions reconfirms the need to reorganize the Government's activity in this field, as was also mentioned at the meeting of the Supreme Security Council on November 24, 2022," said Maia Sandu. She said that the Executive must pay more attention to the energy field and, in this context, requested the Cabinet of Ministers to present the options for reorganizing the sector in a timely manner.
