Country's regions to strengthen social services with USAID's help

11:04 | 08.12.2022 Category: Regional

Chisinau, Dec. 8 /MOLDPRES/- By late December, workshops will be held in Cimişlia and Bălţi from a series of regional consultation events on social services, organized by the US Agency for International Development (USAID) My Community Program in partnership with the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection.

My Community program will structure the information collected to optimize USAID's support in this area, which will include not only technical assistance, but also financial assistance. "Also, the program team will develop a practical guide, intended for local public authorities, which will help them both in the development of social services and in better planning, budgeting, quality monitoring and ensuring their sustainability - all these aspects being relevant for a viable service", indicates USAID.

The role of social services, always being an important one in the community, in the last year has grown considerably as a result of the events that disrupted the year 2022, starting with the outbreak of the war in Ukraine. As a result, today, local public authorities, being the closest to the common citizen, have to face the needs dictated by a series of crises, through which the Republic of Moldova is going, offering administrative, material, financial support, and sometimes even the psychological one, both for the citizens of the country and for the refugees from Ukraine.

The cycle of workshops was launched yesterday in Chisinau and will continue with the next two activities on social services, which will be held in Cimișlia (December 15) and Bălți (December 20).
