Chisinau, 9 December /MOLDPRES/ - Parliament Speaker Igor Grosu has participated in the launch of a Workshop titled, New perspectives for European cooperation in the field of historical education, the parliament’s communication and public relations department has reported.

The event took place at the headquarters of the Ion Creanga State Pedagogical University and brought together representatives of the academic environment from Moldova, as well as experts from Germany, France, Lithuania, Serbia, etc.

Parliament Speaker Igor Grosu, who is historian by profession, highlighted the importance of this component of the education, especially in the present conditions. ‘’After Moldova got the status of country candidate for accession to the European Union, as well as in the regional context, it is important for Moldova to align with some perspectives. For historians, all current events are special. On the one hand, we are witnesses of a war and on the other hand, we see the solidarity proved by the European states. Or, there is a difference between interpreting some events and experience them,’’ the parliament speaker said.

The participants in the workshop discussed the policies needed for the school education in Moldova, Romania and Ukraine, as well as the development of curriculum and of bilateral and multilateral educational products in the history field. In this respect, the participants in the event unveiled the experience of other states – the German-French history textbook, the German-Polish history textbook, the common south-east European textbook of history or the result of the Bulgarian-North Macedonian history commission.

The parliament speaker expressed openness to promote the initiatives of specialists in the field at the legislative level. ‘’The subject matter taught by teachers and the abilities developed in pupils are quite important. Unfortunately, we see how easily and cynically some events are interpreted through the light of propaganda and this thing is noxious for the state’s institutions and for the citizens. And here, our role, of history teachers intervenes - to develop the critical and analytical spirit in young people,’’ the parliament speaker said.
