Chisinau, 9 December /MOLDPRES/ - President Maia Sandu  welcomed the announcement made today by the British secretary for foreign affairs on the inclusion of two fugitives from Moldova on an international list of people charged with serious abuses, the presidential press service has reported.

„The loop is tightening for the corrupt fugitives from Moldova. Today, the British foreign secretary made public a list which regards 30 individuals from all over the world, who committed serious abuses. Vladimir Plahotniuc and Ilan Shor are included on this list, as persons involved in serious corruption acts and illegal financing. All assets owned by these individuals, which are on the territory of the United Kingdom and the territories which belong to it, will be blocked and they will be denied access to this country,’’ President Maia Sandu said.

The head of state expressed gratitude for the countries which back Moldova’s efforts to eradicate corruption. ‘’The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland thus joins the countries which support our anticorruption efforts. We are grateful for this decision, announced just on the International Anti-Corruption Day,’’ reads the message by the president.
