Chisinau, 10 December /MOLDPRES/ - The Reintegration Policies Bureau today conveyed a message on the occasion of the International Human Rights Day, the Bureau has reported.

The message reads:

„Today, 10 December 2022, we mark the 74th anniversary of the adoption of the Declaration of Universal of Human Rights, a document which serves as fundamental pillar for the values of freedom, democracy and human dignity, transposed in Moldova’s Constitution and in the national normative framework.

This day reminds everybody that the human rights are universal, indivisible, inalienable, inter-dependent and strongly interconnected.

This year, dramatically marked by the violent war in the neighbour country, Ukraine, and its quite serious consequences, re-brought, more than ever, on the public agenda, in the focus of the decision-makers and international partners, the need of paying maximal attention to the fundamental human rights and freedoms, efforts of reestablishing/protection of the universal values guaranteed and laid down.

In the context of the new challenges and vulnerabilities, along with other states, Moldova had to adjust its measures and leverages of quick intervention, in order to optimally manage the imminent risks and threats, to avoid the situations of escalation, to provide all forms of assistance available to refugees, persecuted people, whose rights were harmed.

During 2022, the Reintegration Policies Bureau, in cooperation with the national competent institutions, promoters of human rights and relevant foreign partners, undertook enhanced and firm efforts, in order to intervene with all measures of support possible/available, on individual and high impact cases, with the use of all current platforms of dialogue and the potential of international actors, in order to defend/reestablish the fundamental human rights, protect the democratic values, consolidate the rule of law state, fulfill the positive duties of the constitutional authorities in relation with its citizens, on the entire territory of Moldova.

We will continue boosting the efforts and improving the intervention mechanisms, in order to multi-dimensionally support the people at risk and who need the concerned support, so that the human rights situation is improved and the internationally recognized  instruments are guaranteed, including in the settlements from the country’s territory, hit by the non-settlement of the Transnistrian conflict and which are outside the effective control on behalf of the authorities empowered  under law.

The International Human Rights Law does not have only an anniversary or symbolical significance, but serves also as a good occasion for each of us to reflect on the role he/she can have at home, in the community/society, at the working place, in the country, so that he/she brings a value added and an active contribution in the process of observance of the constitutional/international law norms, fundamental rights and freedoms of the man and citizen.

The human rights and the democratic values represent the foundation of the legality, equity, dignity, freedom, prosperity, peace and human harmony.’’
