Moldovan president urges development partners to further back states following democratic way

Chisinau, 12 December /MOLDPRES/ - President Maia Sandu today participated, at an invitation by President of the Swiss Confederation Ignazio Cassis, in the Effective Development Cooperation Summit, held in Geneva. The event’s goal is to bring for discussion the efficiency of the assistance for development globally.  

According to the presidential press service, in her message conveyed to the participants in the Summit, the Moldovan head of state referred to the need of a better adaptation of the foreign assistance to the ever complex needs of the states of the world, including of Moldova.  

At the same time, President Maia Sandu urged international organizations and the development partners to further back the states which follow a democratic way. The head of state touched upon also the efforts of Moldova’s authorities to find solutions to the big challenges the country had been facing in the last years: Covid-19 pandemic, refugees’ crisis triggered by Russia’s war in Ukraine and the energy crisis.

Maia Sandu thanked the development partners for the support provided in the management of these crises. She noted that Moldova had been supported due to transparency with which the leadership had acted and the reliability of the current governance, regained in the last two years.  

„For years, Moldova has missed opportunities to develop sustainably, transparently and responsibly. At present, we firmly go the way of progress and are resolute to promote our national agenda of development responsibly and transparently,’’ President Maia Sandu said at the Summit.
