Draft laws regarding status, competences of Gagauzia Autonomous Territorial Unit to be approved by Gagauz National Assembly

Chisinau, 14 December /MOLDPRES/ - The draft normative acts regarding the status and competences of the Autonomous Territorial Unit of Gagauzia will be submitted of the National Assembly (local parliament) of Gagauzia/Executive Committee for approval. The parliamentary juridical commission for appointments and immunities approved a draft law to this effect today.   

The draft was elaborated within the working group for ensuring, within the constitutional norms, of the work of the autonomous territorial unit Gagauzia, in order to adjust Moldova’s legislative provisions concerning the special status of UTA Gagauzia, established by the constitutional norms. The document sees that the draft normative acts which regard the status and competences of UTA Gagauzia will be submitted for approval to the National Assembly of Gagauzia/Executive Committee.    

Also, the draft law clearly stipulates the power of the UTA Gagauzia’s authorities to submit the drafts of the local laws, worked out for approval for approval to ministries and other competent central administrative authorities, in charge of the field to which the draft law belongs.   

According to the authorities, the legislative amendments will lead to the deepening of the cooperation relations between UTA Gagauzia and the central public administration bodies.

Also at the today’s meeting, the members of the juridical commission for appointments and immunities approved the report for another draft law, which proposes the amendment of the parliament’s regulation. Thus, the standing parliamentary commissions will be in charge of inviting representatives of the National Assembly to discussions, if the draft laws on UTA Gagauzia are subjected to public hearings.
