Joint Moldovan-Ukrainian control to be established at Basarabeasca – Serpniovo-1 crossing point

Chisinau, 14 December /MOLDPRES/ - Joint Moldovan-Ukrainian control is to be established at the Basarabeasca – Serpniovo-1 crossing point for trains on the territory of Moldova, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.    

In this respect, the cabinet of ministers today approved the starting of negotiations and the signing of a protocol between the Interior Ministry’s General Inspectorate of Border Police, Customs Service and Finance Ministry of Moldova and the Administration of the State Border Guard Service and State Customs Service of Ukraine.  

The goal of the protocol is to develop the cooperation relations between the structures with powers at the border from Moldova and Ukraine. They will collaborate in the field of borders’ management, through carrying out joint control at the railway point for the crossing of people, transport means carrying goods, in line with the European requirements and practice.    

The document will also contribute to the diversification of the ways of transportation of goods with Ukraine, ensuring Moldova’s access to the main regional routes of transportation of fuels of various kinds, as well as to the development of the cross-border cooperation. At the same time, the document will ensure the strengthening of the joint border security, national security, public order and economic well-being of both states.
