Chisinau, 20 December /MOLDPRES/ - Prime Minister Natalia Gavrilita has had a meeting with the head of the Romanian diplomacy, Bogdan Aurescu, on a two-day official visit to Moldova, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.

The discussions were focused on the speeding up of the cooperation in key sectors – economic and commercial – which connect two banks of the Prut river, as well as on subjects of major importance, such as the energy interconnection, infrastructure projects and cooperation in the European and international formats.

The officials’ dialogue was also focused on the cooperation in the security sector and combating the crises triggered by the war at the border, as well as on Moldova’s advancement in the European integration.

The Moldovan PM conveyed appreciations with the Romanian authorities and people for the constant support provided to Moldova and the measures undertaken by Romania for the benefit of Moldova.

„We know how much Romania’s voice in favour of Moldova matters at all European forums. We highly appreciate and we thank you for the support provided, especially in the energy sector, on the security segment, as well as for the financing of projects on supply with water and sewerage, purchasing of buses, endowment of school laboratories. We must accelerate the projects underway on certain segments, especially on the energy interconnection, as well as to initiate new ones, so that we not only succeed in managing the crises faced as well as possible, but also make the transformations necessary in the European accession process,’’ Natalia Gavrilita said.

Romanian Foreign Affairs Minister Bogdan Aurescu stressed that Romania would continue supporting Moldova in all approaches, especially as regards the state’s security and in the process of starting the negotiations on accession to EU.

„I wanted to come to Chisinau in the end of the year, in order to convey a strong message of support for all Moldova’s citizens. Romania is by your side and is willing to provide every support and solutions needed, in order to cope with the challenges. The 2022 year was the most complicated one of the last three decades and triggered serious consequences for the energy and security sector. I am happy that we have progress on all projects started together: construction of bridges, implementation of the European Village project, investments in education; we have registered a record in trade exchanges and, the most important thing, we must continue the conferences held on the Moldova Support Platform. The fourth conference will take place in Chisinau,’’ the Bucharest official said.
