Chisinau, Dec. 21 /MOLDPRES/- 12 power generators were offered today to the Republic of Moldova as humanitarian aid by the French government through the EU Civil Protection Mechanism.

Attending the event were the leadership of the Ministry of Health, Ambassador of France to Moldova Graham Paul and Ambassador of the EU Delegation to Moldova Jānis Mažeiks.

The French diplomat said that the donation was made at the request of the Ministry of Health and comes shortly after the French Development Agency disbursed a loan of 60 million euros in support of the energy system of the Republic of Moldova. He said that the 12 generators meet the needs of the medical system in our country, noting that France donated 17 generators this year. The generators will reach several hospitals in the capital, and in the hospitals in Dondușeni, Fălești, Bălți, Cantemir districts.

Graham Paul noted that to make the generators functional as quickly as possible, French electricians from the non-governmental organization Electricians without borders will provide the necessary expertise for the connection.

The donation is part of the support offered to the Republic of Moldova by France within the Europe Team - EU and Member States - through the EU Civil Protection Mechanism. The value of the donation is over 245 thousand euros. Previously, in the context of the military aggression of the Russian Federation in Ukraine, in March 2022, the Government of France offered the Republic of Moldova 17 power generators, which were distributed to hospitals in the country. They were estimated at over 487 thousand euros. The donation came together with a batch of humanitarian aid, including tents, beds, sleeping bags and hygiene kits, worth 40 thousand euros.
