Chisinau, Dec. 23 /MOLDPRES/- Promulgation decree and law to amend Law No242/2010 on consular fees were published in today's issue of the Official Journal. The law will enter into force on 1 January 2023.

Thus, the fees related to the provision of consular services were eliminated. Also, the fees for perfecting and issuing the passport of a citizen of the Republic of Moldova, for consular actions in the field of citizenship, for the registration of civil status documents, for the execution of notarial documents, for consular superlegalization and for other consular actions were also reduced by 50%. In addition, the consular fees related to the completion of the set of documents for obtaining the citizen's passport of the Republic of Moldova, for persons who have not reached the age of 18 were eliminated. As a result, the consular fees that Moldovan citizens pay when procuring a service have been reduced by 60 percent.

Until now, when requesting a service through the consular offices, citizens of the Republic of Moldova paid a total cost consisting of several components: the fee charged by the Public Services Agency, the consular fee and related expenses.

The Government within 30 days from the entry into force of this law will bring its acts in line with the provisions of this law and will undertake the necessary measures for its implementation.
