Moldovan PM meets European Parliament President

Chisinau, 7 January /MOLDPRES/ - The European Parliament will further support Moldova in the process of pre-accession to the European Union. The steps due to be undertaken by Moldova for the implementation of those nine actions recommended by the European Commission and the priorities of the Moldova-EU dialogue for the next period were discussed at a meeting between Prime Minister Natalia Gavrilita and European Parliament President Roberta Metsola in Germany today, the parliament’s communication and protocol department has reported.        

The PM said that the Moldovan authorities remained fully involved in the achievement of the European goal and the transposition of the EU acquis into the national legislation as the only option due to provide Moldova with peace, stability and a peaceful development. At the same time, according to the prime minister, the government stays involved in the carrying out of the reforms expected by the citizens, which will improve the living standards in Moldova and will enhance the country’s economy resilience.    

In discussions, the sides referred to the European Union’s programmes meant to strengthen the cabinet’s efforts in diverse fields, as well as to the preparations for the meeting of the Moldova-EU Association Committee, due in next February. The officials also exchanged opinions on the security situation in the region, crises triggered by the war in Ukraine and ways of combating the challenges related, among which the hybrid war and the propaganda.

Prime Minister Natalia Gavrilita on 6-8 January pays a working visit to Berlin, where she participated in a meeting of the parliamentary group of the Christian Social Union from Germany’s Bundestag.
