Museum from western city of Moldova included in Danube Transnational Programme

Chisinau, 12 January /MOLDPRES/ - The Management Authority of the Danube Transnational Programme 2014-2020 (DTP) has launched an additional appeal of proposals of projects for partners from Moldova and Ukraine. By three transnational projects will be selected and implemented in each country on the period till June 2023. An activity dealing with the project was carried out in Ungheni.   

Thus, the History and Ethnography Museum was visited by pupils and teachers of the settlement, who are fond of history, art and culture, who participated in an activity dedicated to the Ungheni district’s archaeological heritage.

The museum’s director, Vasile Iucal, made to the participants an incursion in the history of museum’s exhibits, which represent pieces from various historical periods: vessels, cult objects, ornaments, guns, etc. Iucal noted that the archaeological heritage of the Ungheni region ‘’is a rich one, with pieces dating back from about 4000 years BC, which are of special historical and cultural importance and which represent the region’s image from times immemorial till present.’’     

The activity was organized within the project titled, Turning to good account of the cultural heritage and encouraging of the sustainable tourism through a joint heritage of the Danube banks, as basis for a cultural route, financed through the Danube Transnational Programme.  

The Danube Transnational Programme 2014-2020 has a budget of 263 million euros, of which five million allocated from funds of the European Neighbourhood Instrument (ENI) for Moldova. Fourteen countries participate in the programme: Austria, Bosnia & Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Croatia, Germany, Montenegro, Moldova, Romania, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Ukraine and Hungary. The minimal co-financing is of 15 per cent.
