Food security strategy for 2023-2030 published in Official Journal of Moldova

Chisinau, 13 Jan. /MOLDPRES/- The food security strategy of Moldova for 2023-2030 was published in the Official Journal today.

Under the Strategy, increasing food security will be ensured by creating the premises for the development of an effective and resilient food, supply and social protection system in emergency situations and crises.

Thus, in the next eight years, the authorities' efforts will be directed towards the development of sustainable food systems and risk management in the context of crisis situations at national and international level. At the same time, the emphasis will be placed on the protection and improvement of the quality of life of disadvantaged groups, on increasing the competitiveness of agricultural products, facilitating international trade, developing related branches of agri-food products and on strengthening the quality and safety of food.

In late 2026, the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry will present a report on the impact of the implementation of the Strategy.

According to a study conducted by FAO in 2019, small farmers and family farms in the country generate more than 62% of the entire volume of agricultural production in the country.
