Chisinau, 13 January /MOLDPRES/ - The 18th National Army’s contingent has been detached to the KFOR peacekeeping mission in Kosovo.

The defence minister showed confidence that the Moldovan military would represent their country with dignity in this mission. ‘’I know the fact that you had a quite complicated training, you proved professionalism, you passed all tests and are able to fulfill the mission. I am sure that this contingent, just as the ones which have participated in such missions so far, will successfully fulfill this mission and Moldova will become a contributor to the world peace and security,’’ Nosatii said.

Ambassador of Italy to Moldova Lorenzo Tomassoni noted that ‘’Moldova’s contribution to the keeping of international peace and security is of extraordinary importance globally.’’

American diplomat Kent D. Logsdon said that the experience Moldovan services were to gain in Kosovo would be valuable, taking into account that the peace and stability is threatened in the region. ‘’This detaching marks the 18th contingent of Moldova in Kosovo, in a moment when the effort of keeping peace in the Balkans is essential,’’ Kent D. Logsdon stressed.

Those 41 National Army military will be deployed at the Italian military base Camp Villaggio Italia from the Pech settlement, Kosovo.
