Moldovan writer passes away

Chisinau, 16 January /MOLDPRES/ - A prose writer, script writer and stage manager Constantin Munteanu today passed away at the age of 72 years.

Constantin Munteanu was born in the Samascani village, northern Soldanesti district, on 4 June 1950. He finished the Electrification College from Soroca; the writer also had unfinished studies at the Gavriil Musicescu Arts Institute (1972-73) and the Lunacharsky Institute of Theatre Arts from Moscow. Munteanu finished courses of literature of the M. Gorky Institute from Moscow.

He was actor at the Chisinau-based Philharmonic and employee at the Moldova’s Youth newspaper.

Munteanu made his debut in literature in 1983. He was co-head of the Dniester Writers’ Union.

Constantin Munteanu will be buried in the Bacioi settlement, Ialoveni district, on 18 January.
