Chisinau, 17 Jan. /MOLDPRES/- The National Social Insurance House (CNAS) in partnership with the UNFPA Moldova launched today a national information campaign.

Attending the event, Minister of Labor and Social Protection Alexei Buzu said that the institution aims to offer parents more possibilities to combine family life with professional life. "We want to implement a range of flexible policies, programs and measures for both parents and employers. This year we aim to widen access to child care services, to split paternity leave and to offer certain facilities for equity, so that both parents can use child care leave," said Alexei Buzu.

For his part, the head of the Parliamentary Social Protection, Health and Family Commission, Dan Perciun, said that informing parents and employers about the legislative changes approved by Parliament is extremely important. "The approved changes aim to make it easier to combine family and professional life. We managed to offer additional support for families, I mean the granting of compensation of 1,000 lei (50 euros) for children up to the age of two. The changes concern the Labor Code, the allowance offered for child care, the granting of paternity and maternity leave. This year we propose to create family-type nurseries and more new places in public nurseries", said Dan Perciun.

Representative of UNFPA Moldova Natalia Plugaru said that it is very important that the current legislation meets the needs of parents. "It is a priority that the measures adopted by the Parliament be put into practice. At the same time, we want employers to support men so that they can request paternity leave, and women to be able to combine child-rearing with professional life," Plugaru said.

The national information campaign consists of holding information sessions attended by approximately 17 thousand people - mothers and fathers, caregivers, employees, representatives of local public authorities from all districts of the country. The participants will be informed by the specialists of the Territorial Social Insurance Houses about the recent changes in the national legislation that support families with children and encourage accessing, including online, social insurance benefits addressed to employees with children.

Employers from each district - both from the public and private sectors - are also invited to the information sessions. They will be informed about the benefits of encouraging employees to combine work and family life. The information sessions will be held on 17 January -28 February.
