Agency for Technical Supervision presented explanations on fire at Giurgiulesti Port

Chisinau, 17 Jan. /MOLDPRES/- Agency for Technical Supervision (AST) within the Ministry of Infrastructure and Regional Development announced today that it has self-reported in the case of the accident at the grain tank in the Giurgiulesti Free International Port, as a result of the collapse of the cargo of over a thousand tons of sunflower meal granules.

Following the examination of the created circumstances, AST found that, from the perspective of industrial security, the warehouse where the damage occurred does not belong to the category of objectives subject to state technical supervision in the industrial security.

Also, the enterprise did not notify the possession of the dangerous industrial objective, did not present the project documentation for this objective for registration, nor did it request the participation of the representative of the state technical control and supervision body in the work of the reception committee, the cited source indicates.

However, in order to prevent accidents of this kind, AST initiated the procedure of starting an unexpected specialized control at enterprises storing scrap granules.

On the morning of January 16, a fire broke out at the Giurgiulești Free International Port. It occurred following the collapse of a storage tank for sunflower meal granules.
