Moldovan electoral body establishes monthly quantum of allocations due to be submitted to political formations in 2023

Chisinau, 17 January /MOLDPRES/ - The Central Electoral Commission (CEC) today established the monthly quantum of allocations from the state budget, which are to be submitted to the political parties for 2023.
According to CEC, under the state budget law for this year, a sum of 49.98 million lei (about 2.5 million euros) was allocated to the Commission for financing the political parties; this sum is by about seven million lei higher against the year before.
Thus, the political parties have right to receive allocations from the state budget based on the performances achieved at the parliamentary elections, general local polls, presidential elections, based on the number of women elected at the parliamentary and local ballots, as well as based on the number of young people elected at the parliamentary and local elections.
At the same time, CEC established the quantum of the monthly allocation proportionally to the electoral performances achieved by the political parties: for each validly expressed vote at the snap parliamentary polls from 11 July 2021 – 0.85 lei; at the general local elections from 20 October 2019 – 0.43 lei and at the presidential elections from 1 November 2020 – 0.68 lei.
Also, following the process of supervision of the reports on the financial management of the political parties for the second half of the last year, as well as within the activity of supervising the incomes and expenditures of the electoral contenders at the electoral campaign for the new local elections from 29 May 2022, the Shor Political Party was imposed additional sanctions in form of depriving of allocations from the state budget for a six-month period, worth about 1.74 million lei.
The subsidies earmarked from the state budget will be transferred monthly to the bank accounts opened by the political parties.
