Chisinau, 18 Jan. /MOLDPRES/- Prime Minister Natalia Gavrilița had a meeting with National Country Program Coordinator for UNIDO Dona Scola. They approached the launch of a partnership between the Government and the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), aimed at rethinking the economic model and increasing the country's industrial competitiveness, the government's communication and protocol department has reported.

The official noted that in the context of the new economic realities, shaped by the war in Ukraine, the intensification of collaboration between the Government and UNIDO is important for the development of a modern economy and the creation of the necessary conditions for attracting investments.

"We count on UNIDO's support in accessing new funds and exploiting new financing mechanisms, so that we become a country as attractive as possible for investors and attract as many investments as possible. Together, we will make a diagnosis of the industrial sector, to set the basic priorities, and then use the local infrastructure and create industrial development centers in the regions", said the prime minister.

Dona Scola said that the partnership between the Government and UNIDO will be based on a framework of larger projects and a consistent industrial development strategy. In this collaboration, the Executive will have a strategic coordination role, and UNIDO will mobilize resources for more coherent assistance and technical cooperation projects.

The UNIDO Country Program for Moldova 2019-2023 ends this year, currently three projects are underway focused on promoting investments, productive employment for rural communities and entrepreneurship development, sustainable energy and environmental management.
