Well-known Moldovan conductor marks birthday

Chisinau, 19 January /MOLDPRES/ - A well-known musician, director and conductor of the Maria Biesu National Opera and Ballet Theatre, People’s Artist Nicolae Dohotaru marks his birthday today.
Nicolae Dohotaru was born in the Taplesti village, central Sangerei district, in 1959. In 1982, he graduated from the Gavriil Musicescu State Conservatoire. In 1984-1986, Dohotaru was a post-graduate student at the Culture Institute from Moscow, specialty of orchestra conducting and in 1986-87 – probationer at the Ovidiu Balan conductor from Romania.
In 2011-2013, Dohotaru worked as conductor of the Symphony Orchestra from Antalya, Turkey. Starting from 1990, with small interruptions, he has held the position of conductor of the National Opera and Ballet Theatre and at present, he is artistic director and conductor at the same institution.
Nicolae Dohotaru made three tours to Switzerland, Germany, Ireland, Italy, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, Portugal, Qatar, Romania, Russia, Spain, Thailand, Ukraine, etc. He cooperated with the Symphony Orchestra of the Serghei Lunchevici National Philharmonic, opera theatres from Cluj-Napoca, Brasov, Timisoara, Constanta (Romania), Opera and Ballet Theatre from Odessa (Ukraine), Opera and International Ballet Company.
In 1994, Nicolae Dohotaru became Master in Art and in 2011 – People’s Artist. He also holds the Labour Glory order.
