Waste from Moldovan capital to be sorted, reused

Chisinau, 19 January /MOLDPRES/ - The Municipal Enterprise Regia Autosalubritate (Auto-Sanitation Administration) today signed a contract with the ABS Ltd company, which envisages the providing of services of sorting waste, daily collected in the Chisinau city and its suburbs.    

Under the contract, the Auto-Sanitation Administration Municipal Enterprise will annually deliver about 190,000 tons of waste to the contracted company for sorting, which will allow the recycling of over 10 per cent of the mass of the waste this year, which accounts for about 45 per cent of the waste’s volume.  

The contract on the purchasing of services of sorting has a duration of five years and is divided into two stages: I stage – the sorter will identify for recycling the waste from paper/cardboard, plastic, metal and glass and the Auto-Sanitation Administration  will pay 120 lei per one ton. The second stage (started in about 1.5 years) – the sorter will recycle the RDF from the waste, which will lead to the recycling of over 20 per cent of the mass of the waste collected in the city. The Auto-Sanitation Administration Municipal Enterprise will pay 250 lei/ton to the sorter for this.

The overall sum of the contract is of 217.5 million lei (about 10.5 million euros), which will be paid by the Autosalubritate enterprise.
