Better living conditions, sustainable incomes - priorities of regional development by 2025

Chisinau, 21 Jan. /MOLDPRES/- Better living conditions for citizens and sustainable income growth for localities - these are the priorities of the Ministry of Infrastructure and Regional Development (MIDR) in the regional development for 2023-2025.

During the first round of public consultations, launched this week by the ministry, public policy priorities in the regional development were also presented. The discussions are taking place in the context of the elaboration of proposals for the National Development Plan (PND) project for 2023-2025 and for the Government Action Plan (PAG) project for 2023, in the MIDR's fields of activity.

State Secretary in the regional development Ana Mardare said that in the next three years, two general objectives will be the basis of the development of the field: 1. Increasing income from sustainable sources and mitigating inequalities by developing opportunities for innovations and entrepreneurship; 2. Improving living conditions, by ensuring access to aqueducts and safe sanitation systems, and the development of the network of growth poles and the economic and social revitalization of small towns as catalysts of local development.

Regarding the short-term actions planned for this year, Ana Mardare said that they are focused on several important aspects, including the approval of the national program on speeding up development of Balti municipality as a development pole; approval of the National Local Development Program 2023-2027; the development of the Information System for the management of regional and local development projects, the amendment of the Law on the public service of water supply and sanitation etc.

"A priority action for this year refers to the institutionalization of the regional development policy in the Chisinau Development Region through the creation of the Regional Council for Development and the Regional Development Agency", the official said.

Action proposals for the regional development will be received by 24 January. The second round of public consultations at MIDR will take place on 23 January.
