Firefighters, rescuers continued to ensure fire safety in Giurgiulesti Port

Chisinau, 21 Jan. /MOLDPRES/- Employees of the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations (IGSU) from the south of the country today continued the mission of ensuring fire safety in Giurgiulești Free International Port, after another sunflower seed meal storage tank caught fire on 20 January.
On 21 January five special vehicles with a staff of 13 are deployed on site to maintain safety and avoid the risk situation. "Firefighters have the mission to cool the reservoir and ensure the security of the area to avoid a crisis situation," indicates the IGSU.
At the same time, a specialized company contracted by the owner of the tanks will carry out the dismantling of the silo affected by the burning process. In order to avoid the risk to the population and the infrastructure of the area, the fire brigade will act on the spot during the process.
On the morning of 16 January a fire broke out in the Giurgiulești Free International Port. It occurred following the collapse of a sunflower meal storage tank. Firefighters also intervened on Thursday morning in Giurgiulesti Port to extinguish another tank (No2) with a load of sunflower seed scrap that caught fire.
