Deputy PM for reintegration has meeting with Head of EU Delegation in Moldova

Chisinau, 23 January /MOLDPRES/ - The first meeting from this year of Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration Oleg Serebrian and Head of the European Union’s Delegation to Moldova Jānis Mažeiks took place today, the Reintegration Policies Bureau has reported.     

The subjects for discussion represented the activities planned for this year, the dynamic scheduled in the Chisinau-Tiraspol formats of dialogue. A specification is that a new working meeting of the political representatives will be proposed till late next February, as well as approaches of Moldova’s authorities on a range of problems which concern the residents from both banks of Dniester.     

The officials highlighted the need to promote the EU-financed programmes on confidence building measures as an important element of stimulating the settlement process. The sides stressed that the progress made in the process of Moldova’s European integration would certainly produce tangible effects in the advancement towards the goal of the country’s reintegration too.   

A for the Transnistrian settlement process, the deputy PM emphasized that it was interconnected to the developments of the war in Ukraine, carrying out of the principles of democratization and demilitarization of the region and the well-thought out implementation  of the mechanisms of reconstitution of the single national areas.    

Oleg Serebrian also underlined Chisinau’s full openness to maintain the dialogue on all platforms of communication available, in order to attract the support needed on behalf of the foreign partners, including EU, to achieve the desideratum of the comprehensive and peaceful settlement of the Transnistrian conflict.
