Chisinau, 24 January /MOLDPRES/ - Twenty five million dollars will be invested in the animal husbandry sector of Moldova, in order to enhance the efficiency and competitiveness of farms. The additional financial support will be provided by the World Bank. Agriculture and Food Industry Minister Vladimir Bolea has made statements to this effect within the consultative board on the branch of cattle.

Representatives of the milk production sector said that they were facing difficulties in the purchasing of energy resources, fodder and negotiating the price between the providers and processors of milk, reads a press release by the Agriculture and Food Industry Ministry (MAIA).

According to Minister Vladimir Bolea, the cattle growers will benefit from support in continuation and a regulation on subsidization to this end is elaborated today. ‘’The new mechanism will envisage the providing of subsidies per one kg of milk delivered based on invoices and per one head of heifer till the first calving. We know the challenges faced by the animal husbandry sector, triggered by the drought from 2022 and the increase in prices for inputs and utilities. For this reason, an additional financial support will be provided by the World Bank, through which 25 million dollars will be invested in the animal husbandry sector, in order to enhance the efficiency and competitiveness of farms,’’ Vladimir Bolea said.

The official noted that, in 2023, the activities of the peasant farms would be capped, according to the model applied to the non-professional exploitations and the system of their taxation will be changed.
