Firefighters extinguished fire in Giurgiulesti International Free Port

Chisinau, 24 Jan. /MOLDPRES/- Today, the firemen extinguished the fire that broke out at tank No2 in the Giurgiulesti International Free Port, in which a quantity of 500 tons of sunflower seed scrap was stored.

According to the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations (IGSU), the outbreak was fully extinguished at around 1:30 p.m., after firefighters intervened to extinguish the fire over four days. During the intervention, the heavy equipment managed to disassemble all the components of the tank.

At the same time, IGSU employees ensured fire safety for the infrastructure in the area and the objectives of the Giurgiulești International Free Port.

On January 20, IGSU employees were alerted in the Giurgiulesti International Free Port, after tank No2 caught fire. Five crews of rescuers and firefighters with a total of 13 employees were trained for extinguishing works and maintaining fire safety.
