Moldovan, Polish officials broach economic cooperation

Chisinau, 25 Jan. /MOLDPRES/- Speaker Igor Grosu had a meeting with Marshal of the Senate of the Republic of Poland Tomasz Grodzki, who is on an official visit to Chisinau, together with a group of Polish senators, the parliament's communication and public relations department has reported.

The discussion focused on many issues, including the security situation in the region, the energy crisis, the fight against propaganda, joint projects and bilateral economic cooperation. "Poland remains a reliable partner of Moldova, with whom we want to develop a good collaboration in the future. We aim to increase the export potential on the Polish market with our fruits, vegetables, wines", he said. According to statistics, in January - September 2022, Moldovan-Polish trade had a significant increase, and in 2023 an even greater increase is expected.

At the same time, the official thanked for the political support in the European institutions and the support of our country's European path. "Poland was and is an advocate in our European integration process. In the last year, our bilateral dialogue has progressed", he said. He appreciated Poland's participation in the Moldova Support Platform conference in Berlin, Bucharest and Paris.

Grosu noted that given the very complicated crises faced by the country, the authorities were persistent, stuck to the reform agenda and followed exactly the commitments for which they received the trust and vote of the citizens. "In the next session of the Parliament, we will work to move Moldova forward", he said.

The officials also discussed the consequences of the war in Ukraine. Both the Republic of Moldova and Poland are directly affected by Russian missile attacks.

Tomasz Grodzki is on an official visit to Chisinau on January 24-25.
