More citizens to get help for cold period of year

Chisinau, Feb. 1 /MOLDPRES/- The eligibility threshold for the aid offered to the population during the cold period of the year will be increased, so that more citizens can benefit from this social benefit.

The parliamentary social protection, health and family committee today approved a report on the draft law amending the conditions for setting and providing social assistance and aid for the cold period of the year.

The document provides for the increase of the multiplier for the guaranteed minimum monthly income, used to establish the right to aid for the cold period of the year, from the current 2.2 to 2.6. It will therefore increase the income threshold when assessing the right to aid for the cold period of the year for disadvantaged families.

At the same time, the document involves extending the decision-making period regarding granting or not granting the right to social aid and aid for the cold period of the year by 20 days.

Official data show that for 2023, about 220 thousand citizens will get help for the cold period. For this purpose, financial means were approved in a total volume of about 770 million lei.
