Editing of more books to be financed by state in Moldova

Chisinau, 2 February /MOLDPRES/ - The state will finance the translation of works by native authors into foreign languages, as well as their publication abroad. A draft law to this effect was approved with the votes of 65 lawmakers today.

Thus, any publishing house from abroad, which is set to translate and publish an author from Moldova, will be able to apply for a contest, in order to get financial assistance on behalf of the state.

Another provision of the legislative initiative refers to the fact that the Culture Ministry will be able to finance also the literary and culture magazines.

The government is to approve a framework regulation due to provide for the conditions of financing of the cultural magazines, as well as the mechanism of support of the translation and editing of books abroad.
