Chisinau, 3 February /MOLDPRES/ - Twenty Ukrainian artists presented their works at an exhibition of photos titled, Live Project. How is to face a destructive force divested? The event was inaugurated at the headquarters of Europe Café – the EU Information Centre in Chisinau - on 2 February. Attending the inauguration were Ambassadors of the European Union and Ukraine to Moldova Jānis Mažeiks and Marko Shevchenko, respectively, as well as Culture Minister Sergiu Prodan.
In his speech, Jānis Mažeiks said that the pictures exhibited showed people who defend their country and EU did its utmost to support them. At the same time, Culture Minister Sergiu Prodan stressed that this war was not only an attack against Ukraine and its citizens, but was also an attack against the generally human rules, the moral principles and freedom. For his part, Ambassador of Ukraine Marko Shevchenko said that this exhibition, which had been presented in Europe, was inaugurated in Chisinau in due time and in fit place. The diplomat voiced hope that more people would visit this exhibition.
According to painter Elena Afanasieva, born in Kherson, who is the exhibition’s curator, the displayed pictures represent the stories of ordinary people who face the destructive force of the war in Ukraine by themselves. Ukrainian physicians, teachers, journalists, artists, IT specialists, volunteers, who show in pictures also the vulnerability caused by the war. ‘’Each story presents the human dimension of the war and shows how it changed their lives, dividing it between ‘’before’’ and ‘’after.’’ There is no man in Ukraine on whose face one does not see marks of fear and vulnerability. Despite their human fragility and lack of defence as civilians, these people resist and continue to fight for freedom, democratic values and safety all over Europe,’’ Elena Afanasieva said.
LIVE PROJECT represents a collective call of the Ukrainians for the entire world to further stand with Ukraine and to provide support in their fight for life and peace. The project became possible due to the financial support of the European Union within the Eastern Partnership Civil Society Fellowship Programme.
The exhibition can be visited at Europe Café (Chisinau, Sciusev Street, 79) on 3-24 February, starting from Monday till Friday, at 9:00-17:30.
