No Moldovans among victims of earthquake in Turkey

Chisinau, Feb. 6 /MOLDPRES/- The checks carried out so far show that there are no injured or hospitalized Moldovan citizens among the victims of the earthquake that occurred today in the south-east of Turkey. Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration (MAEIE) Daniel Voda made the statement today.
The information was presented after the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, through the Embassy of the Republic of Moldova in Ankara, self-reported and took steps with the local authorities in Turkey regarding the verification of the Moldovan citizenship of the victims of the earthquake.
The officials at the consular section are ready to provide specialized assistance, and if needed or consular emergency, our citizens can request help or information from the diplomatic mission, including if they are in possession of data concerning citizens of the Republic of Moldova from the affected areas.
The ministry reiterates that the phone line for consular emergencies at the embassy of our country in Ankara is set up on a permanent basis.

According to the latest information, the toll of the earthquake that shook southern Turkey early Monday rose to 284 dead and 2,323 injured in this country.
