Chisinau, 6 February /MOLDPRES/ - The International Labour Organization (ILO) has launched a Local Employment Partnership (LEP) in the northern Soroca district. The Partnership will contribute to the creation and formalization of about 200 jobs, extension of 24 small- and micro-enterprises and the launch of 26 businesses in diverse sectors.

According to the National Employment Agency (ANOFM), the initiative was launched by ILO, in partnership with the Labour and Social Protection Ministry and Soroca District Council. The LEP’s main goal is the creation of jobs and transition to the formal occupation.

Thus, within LEP, trainings will be organized in the handicraft sector; a curriculum of trainings will be developed and enforced in the sector of information and communication technology (TIC), in order to enhance the degree of young people’s preparation for employment. ‘’We are sure that, through joining efforts, all local actors can contribute to the identification of solutions to the current challenges and creation of jobs, integration of the active population and enhancing the competitiveness of the labour force,’’ a head of department at the Labour and Social Protection Ministry, Anna Gherganova said.

The implementation of LEP Soroca sees the participation of about 20 public and private partners nationally and locally, among which non-governmental organizations, financial, education and professional training institutions, the employment service, associations of producers, enterprises and investors.

„We are happy that, along with ILO and all national and local partners, we will create opportunities for the development of businesses and creation of jobs; in this way, we will contribute to social and economic development of the Soroca district.’’ the district’s deputy head, Svetlana Paunescu, said.

LEP Soroca will be implemented till late 2023 and has a budget of about 240,000 dollars. In the last five years, such partnerships were implemented in three districts of Moldova: Cahul, Cantemir and Causeni.
