Japan to provide Moldova with necessary equipment for afforestation process

Chisinau, Feb. 7 /MOLDPRES/- Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) has expressed its willingness to provide the Republic of Moldova with necessary equipment for afforestation. This was discussed yesterday at a Moldovan-Japanese meeting at the Ministry of the Environment.

Relevant minister Iordanca-Rodica Iordanov appreciated the importance of Japan's support for the management of forest resources, saying she relies on cooperation with JICA in carrying out the country's reforestation program, in order to respond more effectively to climate challenges.

The Japanese side said that the sustainable management of forest resources and the expansion of the area of forested land in the Republic of Moldova, up to 15%, is an ambitious commitment JICA will continue to support.

JICA was set up in 2002 as an independent administrative institution to contribute to the economic and social development of developing countries and to the expansion of Japan's international cooperation. So far, JICA has supported several projects to support our country in the social and agro-industrial sectors.
